Stuart Mackenzie

El Dr. W.G. Stuart Mackenzie es cirujano ortopédico pediátrico del Hospital Infantil Nemours en Delaware y miembro del equipo multidisciplinario de atención a pacientes con displasia esquelética de dicho centro. Está comprometido con la mejora de la atención ortopédica para niños y jóvenes con displasia esquelética. El Dr. Mackenzie es autor de numerosos artículos en revistas especializadas y participa regularmente en congresos nacionales e internacionales, donde imparte conferencias y presenta sus investigaciones. Se graduó de la Universidad de Toronto y realizó su posgrado en la Universidad de Boston. Trabajó dos años en Zambia, en el Centro de Investigación de Enfermedades Infecciosas, atendiendo a pacientes con VIH. Completó su residencia en Cirugía Ortopédica en la Universidad de Columbia, tras haber cursado estudios en el Colegio Médico de Nueva York. Se incorporó al equipo del Hospital Infantil Nemours como residente de Cirugía Ortopédica Pediátrica, antes de ser nombrado miembro del personal médico. Ha recibido numerosos premios, entre ellos el de «Médico del Año» del Hospital Infantil Morgan Stanley de Nueva York. Es miembro activo de la Sociedad de Ortopedia Pediátrica de Norteamérica (POSNA), la Academia Estadounidense de Cirujanos Ortopédicos (AAOS), la Sociedad de Investigación de Escoliosis (SRS) y la Asociación Estadounidense de Ortopedia (AOA).

W.G. Stuart Mackenzie, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, and a member of the multi-disciplinary Nemours Skeletal Dysplasia team. He is committed to improving the orthopedic care for all children and young adults with skeletal dysplasia. Dr. Mackenzie is the author of multiple journal articles in his specialty, and regularly travels to teach and present research at national and international conferences. Dr. Mackenzie received his undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto, and a graduate degree from Boston University. He worked for two years in Africa with HIV patients at the Center for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia. Dr. Mackenzie attended New York Medical College, and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Columbia University. He joined the team at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, as a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery fellow, before joining the staff full-time. He has won multiple awards, including Physician of the Year at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York. He is an active member in the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA), American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and American Orthopedic Association (AOA).
