Ricki Carroll

La Dra. Ricki Carroll, MD, MBE, es profesora clínica asociada en el Departamento de Pediatría del Hospital Infantil Nemours, Delaware, asociado a la Universidad Thomas Jefferson. Se desempeña como pediatra de cuidados complejos y cuidados paliativos en el marco de los programas de Displasia Esquelética y Osteogénesis Imperfecta de Nemours. Inicialmente trabajó como pediatra hospitalaria y posteriormente completó su especialización en Hospicio Pediátrico y Medicina Paliativa en Nemours antes de aceptar su puesto actual. La Dra. Carroll obtuvo su Doctorado en Medicina y su Maestría en Bioética en la Facultad de Medicina Perelman de la Universidad de Pensilvania. Completó su residencia pediátrica en el Hospital Infantil de Filadelfia. Es licenciada en Matemáticas por la Universidad Emory. 

En su función dentro de los programas de Displasia Esquelética y OI, la Dra. Carroll ofrece un entorno médico y atiende a niños con una amplia gama de displasias esqueléticas. Centró su atención clínica en bebés, niños y adultos jóvenes con complejidad médica, además de brindar apoyo para el manejo del dolor y los síntomas en este grupo de pacientes. Su nombramiento también incluye un puesto a tiempo parcial en el equipo de cuidados paliativos, donde se desempeña como asistente de cuidados paliativos en diversos momentos del año. Además, es miembro y ex copresidenta del Comité de Ética y Derechos del Paciente de Nemours.

Dr. Ricki Carroll, MD, MBE is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Nemours Children’s Hospital, DE associated with Thomas Jefferson University. She serves as a complex care and palliative care pediatrician as part of the Skeletal Dysplasia and Osteogenesis Imperfecta programs at Nemours. She initially served as a pediatric hospitalist and subsequently completed fellowship training in Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Nemours before accepting her current position. Dr. Carroll received both her Doctorate in Medicine as well as a Masters in Bioethics from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her pediatric residency training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Emory University.  

  In her role within the Skeletal Dysplasia and OI programs, Dr. Carroll provides a medical home and manages children with a wide array of skeletal dysplasias. She focused her clinical care on infants, children, and young adults with medical complexity, as well as helping with pain and symptom management needs within this patient population. Her appointment also includes a part-time role with the palliative care team, where she serves as a palliative care attending at various times throughout the year.  In addition, she is a member and previous co-chair of the Nemours’ Ethics and Patients’ Rights Committee.
